Having a voice

This section explores what it means to speak up and be heard about your opinions, your ideas, the needs and wants.  It includes material about making decisions and taking risks.

The QuickGuides in this section are designed to help start a conversation in your peer network about how to make sure you speak up about the things that are important to you.

The index to the left shows the current range of topics.  Click on each one to read/download a QuickGuide. Some index items include links to video clips.

We expect the range and number of topics to grow.

E-mail us if there are other topics you would like to see here, or if you would like to write a QuickGuide to go here.

The video below is about the Yarning Circle network in Queensland set up  “To help our own people to understand what was disability and that they could actually have a voice to speak out.” Willie Prince, founding member.

This video below was part of the Self advocacy Resource Unit's (SARU) presentation at the Advocacy Sector Conversations forum held on 28 November 2017.
