A peer support network is where people get together as equals to provide support to each other because of similar experiences or circumstances in their life.
This ‘toolkit’ contains Quick Guides (or factsheets) and videos that can help you set up a peer support network and/or provide ideas about what you might talk about at a peer network meeting.
There is evidence that peer support can help people feel more confident, knowledgeable, capable, and less isolated.
To organise a diverse range of material that might be helpful to peer networks, the information has been sorted into two main categories:
- ways to start a peer network and how to keep it going.
- activities that are intended to help peer network members with their hopes and concerns. This might include conversations and information about life issues such as education, employment, housing, community access, decision-making, and so on.
